And After the Hike, the Reward

The wind was blowing so we had to use a torch to light the candles.

Birthday Girls

Cameron & Grace both had a birthday this past Sunday. We intended to take a picnic to Blue Ridge Pastures but it rained and rained. So we ate BBQ here, then hiked Tater Knob. Here Tucker Stone and Austin Shattuck don the wreaths that were for the birthday girls.
Austin cooks as Grace looks on, afraid to watch him with a sharp knife.

Some of the birthday celebration crowd.

Cameron made the meal for her and Grace's day. She made the best shredded BBQ pork yet and made this beyond the pale peanutbutter and chocolate cake. It was richer than the 8-layer cake if you ask me.

Competition Fairview Style

Square dancing isn't supposed to be a contact sport, nor is it competative but somehow we find a way to make it so here in Fairview.

Women's musical chairs until it got ugly.

Men's musical chairs until it got viscious.

The Lord's Acre Fundraiser

Last weekend we held a square dance, potluck fundraiser at the Big House. The public supported us with a great turnout and even when it rained on the potluck, people opened their umbrellas and just kept serving themselves. They huddled on the porch and remained cheerful until the rain stopped and the square dancing began.

Hearing Desmon Tutu

At the graduation, we had the great opportunity to hear Desmon Tutu. If I can get a copy of his exhortation, I'll post it. He was funny, gentle, well-spoken, compelling, winsome and compelling.

The Amish Nosejob???

Jake captures Walker modeling at Troyer's, the local Amish store.
Jake gets a nose job after a player on another team tried to 'head' the ball but 'headed' Jake's face instead. He broke his nose and couldn't breath out one side but the doctor fixed that while making him handsome.
