NASHVILLE, TENN. - The UNC Asheville's men's soccer team got an overtime goal from Jake Sides to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 victory over Belmont. The victory allowed Asheville to capture the Hyatt Place Select Tournament that was held of the campus of Lipscomb University this weekend.

The Bulldogs (3-4-1) won their first tournament in more than 20 years with two victories over the weekend. Asheville edged Lipscomb on Friday night, 2-1. The Bulldogs placed four players on the all-tournament team. They included goalkeeper Lassi Hurskainen, Jake Hagedorn, Connor Holzinger and Jakes Sides.
Hurskainen was tremendous throughout the tournament. He made 15 saves on Friday night and then had 10 saves on Sunday.

Asheville opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Hagedorn scored his first goal of the season. The goal came off a corner kick that the Bruins could not clear. Hagedorn was in the right spot and got the goal for a 1-0 Bulldog lead.
It stayed 1-0 for most of the match as Hurskainen kept the Bruins off the scoreboard. However in the 80th minute, Cullen Hall deflected a corner kick into the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1.

In the second overtime period, Asheville would get the game-winner. Holzinger sent a pass into the goal off a corner kick, Sides picked up the ball and slipped it past the back post for his first goal of the season and the game-winner. The goal came in the 104th minute.

Asheville has a well-deserved week off and will play again this Saturday against Kentucky starting at 1 p.m
