Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Franklin, Jake and I left for a second weekend of soccer in Greensboro and the 20 & 30-somethings had a campout in the rain on Blue Ridge Pastures, just over the hill behind us. It's our Sound of Music view on this end of Fairview. And then there was a rainbow. And then a double rainbow.

Retro 80s

Cameron has a friend who finds clothes from the eighties and sells them on Ebay. She gets a few women-friends to model them to post on her site. This is Cameron's second modeling debut for her. I must admit there is something disconcerting about these young women thinking the eighties are retro. Ugh.

Spring Mountain Flowers

Cameron took these of wild iris and wild geranium. This time of year seems to always be rich with purples.

We Got the Corn in Too - And Then It Rained

Beating the Rain

These tomato starts are in the little greenhouse Franklin built me several years ago. They are highly resistant test varieties from the local Ag. research center so we have to keep tabs on them and report back as to how they did. I usually grow heirlooms but after going to a talk on tomato diseases this year, I decided to give these a try.
Phillip Johnson, one of The Lord's Acre's interns, helps us plant potatoes Saturday.
Paul Horton, another intern, coaches Gabriel as to how to cover up the potatoes with the work end of a hoe.
Phillip and friend, Rebbeca (Gabe's mom) continue filling in the rows.

Goat Therapy

THere are now EIGHT baby goats born just across the road from us. We can see them from our porch. Two were born on Easter, followed by four born to one mom and four days ago, two more were born. Whenever I feel stressed or need a mental break, I walk across the road and get some "goat therapy". If you sit on the ground, they come and crawl all over you. If you. They nibble at your clothes and let you pick them up and just stroke their soft, white coats. Tonight, the runt of the most recent birthing, cuddled under my arm as I held it and stroked it's back. Its mom is rejecting it so it will take all the loving it can get.
